St. Croix EDC Launches $220,000 Small Business Development Grant Program to Support Local Businesses

St. Croix Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) is excited to announce the launch of the Small Business Development Grant (SBDG) Program, investing $220,000 directly into local businesses across St. Croix County.  

Funded through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), the SBDG Program offers four funding opportunities to help small businesses occupy vacant spaces, improve commercial properties, access capital, and scale for growth. Businesses may qualify for more than one grant!

Funding Opportunities Include:

  • Rental/Purchase Assistance Grant: $5,000 for businesses that rent or buy a commercial space that has been vacant for at least three months.
  • Facade Improvement Grant: Up to $5,000 to enhance the exteriors of buildings with signage, landscaping, lighting, and more.
  • Capital Access Boost Grant: $5,000 for businesses leveraging non-traditional loans or grants.
  • SCEDC Scale Up Pitch Competition: Cash prizes up to $5,000 for growth-oriented companies. The application opens Monday, March 9th, for the next competition, which will be held on May 21, 2026. 

Eligibility: Businesses headquartered in St. Croix County (or relocating/expanding here), with 25 or fewer employees, for-profit, and in good standing with the State of Wisconsin.

Apply Early – Funds Are First-Come, First-Served

Program runs January 2026 through December 2027 or until funding is fully allocated.
